AUSTRIAN CULTURE FORUM IN WARSAW

In 2015, Austriackie Forum Kultury in Warsaw celebrated its 50th anniversary. The Forum was the first Western European cultural institute in Poland after the war. At that time, many inhabitants of Warsaw considered it as a ‘window to the West’. Thanks to a network of European contacts, it played a significant role in the formation of the democratic opposition in Poland. Nowadays, it provides space for cultural and social dialogue between Poland and Austria — in a broader, European context.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Austriackie Forum Kultury prepared a two-day programme “Feta na Próżnej” (A Feast on Próżna Street). On 29–30 May 2015, Próżna Street, where the Forum’s office is located, was the site of concerts, workshops, discussions, exhibitions, as well as a special programme addressed to children and youth — “Heca na Próżnej” (Bits of Fun on Próżna Street).
